Fan Tributes

Thanks to everyone who’s contributed fan fiction and
songs. Especially Sir Elton John, who recently dedicated
a new version of his song “Candle in the Wind” to The
Beauty Killer.

“Goodbye Gretchen Lowell
Though I never knew you at all
You had the grace to stay yourself
While those around you fell
You crawled out of the woodwork
And you liquefied kids’ brains
Now you are at large
And you’ve probably changed your name”

ANOTHER BEAUTY KILLER COPYCAT?

Headline in The Portland Tribune, Thursday, October 22, 2009:
Gretchen Lowell Inspires ‘Possible Suicide’
by SUSAN WARD, Special to The Tribune

The body of an as-yet-to-be-identified victim was found in the middle of the floor of a SE Portland barroom in an apparent suicide possibly inspired by the Beauty Killer murders.

THE KILLER WHO GAVE ME LIFE

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about dying. Mainly because it’s been in the news so much, what with the Beauty Killer still out there. She got out again somehow. And people keep rooting for her to stay free, which makes no sense if you think about it. Because if she’s out there, she could get anyone. But no one thinks about that. They root for her because she’s beautiful. And beautiful people can get whatever they want.

The Worst Serial Killer

[The following text is a transcript of an audio recording, found in an abandoned residence believed to be a hiding place of Gretchen Lowell. Voice recognition experts are divided as to the authenticity of the voice as Gretchen Lowell's. If it is a true document, it is an amazing look into the mind of Gretchen Lowell, who has maintained a profound public silence. If it is a fake, it is a remarkable act of mimicry. We make no claim for the authenticity of this transcript, but offer it in the spirit of trying to understand the worst serial killer America has ever known. Eds.]

The Lover's Chase

I want to arrest Gretchen,
but that little vixen
stole my gallbladder
when I wasn't looking
and is
running all over the house

Interview with a Witness

by MOLLY GINTY

"She always seemed so nice, and so normal. Beautiful girl, with those wide blue eyes and legs that stretched on forever. She had a special way of smiling whenever she bought nails, razor blades, or drills from me. Always wanted the best quality, and always wanted to know where everything was crafted.

Gretchen speaks of her love for Archie, after he put her in jail.

When people write or speak of me they use words equivalent to contemptible, despicable, loathsome or vile. They do not know me but they are not wrong. They are not. I have been asked repeatedly to explain myself. To tell everything. To give it all up. I suppose I have remained silent in the midst of my accusers because they already know me. There is nothing to add except perhaps a superfluous punctuation mark of some sort at the end of "she did not show any emotion during the proceedings as her hands were cuffed behind her back." Perhaps a question mark?
